The Grumsby Wayside Effect

Here's a big thank-you to everyone who wrote to tell us how much you enjoyed our April Fool's Day Newsletter! We had a lot of fun with our joke wine, Grumsby Wayside, made from the nonexistent Pinot Vert varietal. But what really made us happy was finding out just how devoted our friends and fans are, several of whom were ready to place an order!

Well, we're sorry we couldn't fulfill those orders (for one thing, we couldn't find a reliable source for the recommended pairing of walrus carpaccio). But it's all for the best: that "hint of daffodil" and those "kelp notes" just didn't sound like our kind of wine!

Kidding aside, we really are working on plans for some new additions to our wine list. No news just yet, but the next time you see an announcement for a new Carlton Cellars wine, it'll be for real — and it'll be seriously delicious. (And there'll be no walrus required...)

See you in Carlton — and in Portland!

and the team at Carlton Cellars
