Wine Spectator joins in with an "Outstanding" review

Right on the heels of our Wine Advocate accolades, now Wine Spectator has awarded its own 90 points to the 2006 Roads End, qualifying it as "Outstanding: a wine of superior character and style." Writing in the Dec. 15, 2008 issue, p.149, reviewer Harvey Steiman calls the wine:

"Smooth and refined, with some power in reserve behind the cherry and dark berry flavors, picking up a black olive note as the finish sails along. Drink now through 2014. 600 cases made."

See both reviews here.

Fortunately for our fans, there's still a small supply of the 2006 left, due to the hurricane cancellation (see Message in a Bottle No. 7). So you can taste for yourself the wine that has garnered the acclaim of Wine Spectator and Wine Advocate.

Just wait until they try the '07!

A Year of Great Changes

One of the things that sets us apart from a lot of wineries is that we truly roll up our sleeves and do everything ourselves. We may get more dirt under our fingernails than other winemakers, but we wouldn't have it any other way. It's how we love to make the wines you love to drink.

We recently flipped through all the snapshots we took this year, and we could hardly believe everything we've accomplished. We've been digging and planting and building at the vineyard. And we've completely overhauled the winery, including the beautiful new cedar siding you see below:

Carlton Cellars Winery

We're especially happy that we made these improvements in time for the Thanksgiving release of the first vintages we've produced ourselves in our very own facility, the 2007 Roads End and Cape Lookout.

We wanted to share our excitement about all the new developments, so we put the best of the year's pictures in our online photo album. Take a look, and let us know what you think.
